The Touchpad

The touchpad is the standard pointing device for a laptop but it can also be purchased as a peripheral USB or bluetooth device for use with a desktop. It provides a high degree of accuracy for a user with good fine motor control and like the trackball reduces arm movement. Usually accompanied by two buttons (one for Apple) like the mouse, modern trackpads also offer increased functionality through gesture recognition (Apple magic trackpad pictured).
